Waiting for Spring

Yes, that's my excuse. It's cold, I have no place to work and no real motivation. I do have a project in the back of my mind and as soon as it thaws out here in Virginia, I'm planning to get to it. In the meantime, maybe we can find inspiration from people who are more motivated than I am right now.
These are a couple of photos from the blog Farmhouse 38 http://farmhouse38.wordpress.com/the-house/ . I've just discovered it and I'm green with envy. Check out their gorgeous renovations for yourself. Here are a couple of highlights.
This covered porch and enormous farmhouse table are about as good as it gets. And it wouldn't be the same without RED!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this front porch!

Union Jack LOVE

Ever since I can remember, I have been in love with the Brits. Elton John and the Beatles, probably had something to do with it; and maybe the fact that my maiden name is Dover and we have our own cliffs. How I love all things from across the pond.

And while I admit to being pretty patriotic, I am a Navy wife after all, I love the British Flag. It's just so cool! Why? We don't really know, but it looks good on everything. I think the simplicity of it and the fact that we associate it with the British Invasion, it just looks like rock-n-roll and I love it! I have been inspired by it.

This table was an old Singer sewing machine stand that I found empty on the curb. I took off the top and painted a new one. I loved it so much that I put it in my son's room. He's a musician and it looks great next to his drums and guitars.

The second piece is a chair. Just a wooden chair that was a drab brown with a mustard yellow cushion. Hello, 1972 called and said "please paint this." So I did. The result is a modern and happy place to rest your dogs. The seat cover is water proof so spills are not a concern. Rock on!

French Inspiration

This piece was a plain little chest of drawers that was rescued from the curb (one of my favorite places to shop). It got cleaned up, painted and detailed and is now a sophisticated, custom little french piece. J'adore!
